Ranking!!

From our research on fabric manipulation we had to experiment with the teachniques ourselves and also in knit with different stitch swatches.

After the power point presentation we had to decide on a theme to go with.  I decided to go with the theme Tribal and close in on the area of army tribes.
Images of this them had to be collected, analytical drawings and shapes had to be extracted from these images.

Three shapes in total had to be selected.I also decided to use pleating technique and to stuff the pleats with straws to create a structured effect!

From my colour story that i went with i picked the main colour that i was going to use (camel/beige) and sourced the material.

When I finialised my decision on my final shape that i was going to use, i got started on working the shape around on the manaquin in a 3D way.i began to also start to work it onto the manaquin and draw from these  designs.

I really enjoyed working with my shape and technique on the manaquin as it fired my mind for my final design for my garment.
I started to mix the different designs that i came about and started to come up with my final design by editing and adding things together.  I found it much easier to work on the manaquin and then draw from them and source ideas!

once my final design was approved i got to work on the construction of it. I started to drape the material onto a base top but it wasnt really working at all so i got a basic top block and decided to construct a tailored jacket!!

This was quite a challenge for me as i had never constructed a garment before, but i was certainly up for the challenge and i think i stepped up to it and was very happy with my final piece!!
